Located west of Toronto, Ontario, The X Club is located in small business park meaning there are no residential neighbours retail shops to raise concerns about an club in their area and also has the benefit that there is good security around due to the numerous companies operating out of the new single story office buildings.

Ample parking is available out front and the club is easy to find with a large lit sign in over the doorway.

We have to admit, an evening with perhaps 20 people in a club capable of holding numbers in the hundreds makes it tough to get a sense of the vibe that would be generated here on a party night. But the potential is certainly obvious from the moment you enter the main bar area after reception. A huge dance floor runs that entire length of the main room and one can only imagine how hot this place must get in full ‘swing’. A huge video screen overlooks the dance floor with a complete and professionally designed audio and lighting system in place to get just the right ambiance happening.

When we visited, it was refreshing that the main dance area screen had a suggestive video, in synch with the music playing versus the token porn so many clubs feel they need to display everywhere. While they didn’t have the dance floor lighting effects pounding away, ambient light was set up that evening to compliment the inviting seating that runs down the full length of both walls.

Each side of the dance floor has raised relaxation areas each set up ideally for groups of 4 or 6. White leather sofas, with cascading white sheer curtains from the high ceiling pick up the effects generated by the soft and changing lights and the chandeliers that hang every few feet add a luscious touch. The couches are far enough from the dance floor to allow new friends to meet and talk but still close enough to watch the action as it develops on the dance floor. If you want a little more seclusion there is a quieter lounge area off to the left of reception, where our ‘orientation session’ is meant to take place later the same evening.

When it’s time to play, The X Club offers more than enough space and plenty of options depending on what you want to get up to and whether or not you are looking for privacy or fun in a crowd. A second reception desk is around from the back of the dance floor and staff ensures that the numbers in the play areas are kept to 70 at any one time. They are there to sign you in and give you keys to a locker in the men’s or ladies dressing rooms as well as help out with any issues or questions you may have.

When you head past reception, what immediately stands out is how spotless the club is. Looking down the hall from reception you see doorways set into the glistening white walls and at the end an inviting fireplace that divides the private rooms from the group area.

A number of individual rooms that can hold between 2 and 6 people (and more if you are ambitious!) are set off the main hallway and a gorgeous shower area is available that also is designed to be far more fun with a crowd. Unique are the two VIP rooms that can be reserved for an entire evening by paying a supplement and these are perfect for entertaining your own group of friends – with in room video, changing facility and a small fridge to keep your own drinks close to hand.

At the end of the hall is the large group area with a final voyeur room which while closed off with walls and a door, has an open ceiling and a large viewing window. Ideal for newbie’s that want to lap up the sights and sounds but not throw themselves into the action quite yet.

The group area is spacious – and beckons you in with raised and spotless bed areas in an L shape around the room. It’s worth mentioning that cleanliness is emphasized here. Staff keep an eye on where people play and are quick to change sheets and clean up as people leave the beds or furniture they are using behind. It’s a nice touch that you cannot take for granted everywhere.

Dominic and Joanna are very conscientious of their guests needs. They make a point of taking new comers under their wing and looking after them. The time they take tonight explaining things to a crowd of ‘never beens’ what they have learned as owners of a club shows just how passionate they are about making sure everyone is comfortable. They want to ensure that guests know what to expect and most important, that their guests are in control of how much fun they get up to.  No one else. No question was too painful for them and each was answered with concern and humour.
